Ever wonder why your hair never looks as perfect as it does in commercials? It can take a team of experts thousands of dollars and countless hours to create that perfect look.Even Donald's. My theory on his hair is that it starts as a combover, does a boomerang over the brow, then covers up an area that Rogaine couldn't handle. As Christians, it's comforting to know that we aren't supposed to be as perfect as the hair, faces and bodies we see in advertising. God gave us each the perfect body (and hair!) to do what He wants us to do. And the funny thing is, only a handful of us were called to be super models. It's nice to know that God's standard of beauty has nothing to do with the kind of shampoo you use. His standards have nothing to do with outer appearance at all. According to the Bible, beauty has nothing to do with flat or fluffy hair, the smell of your underarms, the length of your nose hairs, or the size of your pores. The real test of beauty is not what you see in the mirror, but the qualities within. Samuel 17:7 reminds us "For God sees not as man sees, for man look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart". So when you think about it, hair, makeup, tattoos, and rhinestone studded fake nails can compete with your real beauty. Sure, it's important to want to look nice, but it if you're spending more time looking in a mirror than you spend looking in your Bible, or could support 3 missionairies with the money you drop at a hair stylist each month, you're looking at the wrong place for beauty. It's also comforting to know that bad hair days aren't a modern day occurrence. Even your worse hair day can't compare to the ultimate bad hair day-Samson's. Here's a guy with great looks, strength, and power on the condition that he would not cut his hair. "No razor has ever come upon my head, for I have been a Nazarite to God from my mother's womb. If I am shaven, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man." But Samson, being smitten by Delilah, told her the secret to his strength. And before Samson could say "just a little off the ends", Delilah had his hair clipped and Samson's strength snipped. Yes, hair has always been a big problem. Maybe that's why God numbered our hairs--so we wouldn't have to worry about 'em. The sad thing is, those perfect hairstyles and bodies we see in advertising are hard to ignore. You'll see as many as 1200 of these images before the day is over, like it or not. That does not include Donald Trump's hair, which defies logic, taste, and gravity. Most made-for-TV hair takes a team of top dollar hair specialists hours to create, using the precision of a brain surgeon to create an effortless look. In other words, don't be disappointed if you can't get your coif to co-operate with your wal-mart shampoo and dippity-do. So the next time you see a fabulous head of hair on TV, the side of a bus, or popping up on your computer screen, remember this. You're not supposed to be perfect like they are in advertising. God created you to be an imperfect person who finds perfection in Him.
