While Oprah's Book of the Month Club usually offers books full of SELF HELP, the Bible offers readers GOD HELP. Suggest these turn paging classics to your friends, family and co-workers.

Have you ever realized that once a book becomes part of Oprah's Book of the Month Club, that book becomes an instant success? You'll see people pick up that book and read it everywhere, from check out lanes to express lanes on the copy, even if that book was something they would never otherwise consider. But usually at best, Oprah's books offer self-help, not God help. So why not start a Book of the Month club of your own, based on the books of the Bible? It's a great way to get your friends, family and co-workers to read a book that they would never otherwise consider, that book being one of the books of the Bible. These books offer the kind of advice you won't see on a daytime talk show, but promises that are timeless as well as encouraging.

Here's some suggested books to offer up to your friends and coworkers:

A book for the Workaholic: Ecclesiastes. This contemporary book makes a great Bible study at the office, helping the reader keep work and worldly success in perspective.

A book for the Love-lorned: John. This gospel is a great place to introduce someone to the love of Jesus Christ. Now, you can give someone a tasty sample of the book of John in an easy to read version. Tyndale now offers the Book of John in a soft covered paperback. The a single slice of their "The Student Life Application Bible", which is as welcoming to read as a magazine.

Big But Fans: The book of Proverbs. Relax. Proverbs is also full of a lot of "big buts" (that is, verses with the word "but" in it).These verses offer contemporary advice for young teens today.). If you work with a teen ministry, have your group look up their favorite "but" in Proverbs or in other parts of the Bible. Other famous buts include: John 3:16, Titus 3:5, Luke 6:27.

Moby Dick Fans: The book of Jonah. Being only four chapters long, this short but favorite book can be read in one sitting. Readers will get a glimpse of what happened to one man who tried to run from the call of God. It's as exciting as THE PERFECT STORM, minus George Clooney.
