| Did you know that the majority of boyfriends leave when their girlfriend has a baby? The father might be older and is afraid he can get busted if the mom's a minor. The father might be broke with no money for child support. He might be scared and confused, too. Whatever the reason for the biological father not being there, there is one Father who will never chicken out on child-rearing responsibilities. That's your heavenly Father.
While God won't be there to help change a stinky diaper, you can count on His Word (the Bible) to bring you encouragement when things are rough. It's filled with stories of moms who had it tough, just like teen moms today. Some were raped, others played second fiddle another woman, some were lonely and strapped for cash.
Besides that, God commanded His people to take care of orphans or fatherless. The fancy schmancy Hebrew word for orphan is yathowm . It pops all kinds of times in the Hebrew Scriptures used to create the Bible. So if you're a teen mom, try to get plugged into a church or outreach program.
Most of all, remember God is there 24/7 to help raise your child. Talking to Him won't eat up the minutes on your calling plan, either. |
